The North Carolina Beer & Wine Wholesalers Association was originally founded in 1936 as a nonprofit trade association to advocate for beer and wine distributors in North Carolina. Today, we promote a competitive but responsible alcohol marketplace designed to balance public safety, fair competition and economic stability.

We give policymakers and industry partners the clarity they need to make informed decisions — ensuring stability for distributors, predictability for retailers, and responsible policies for communities.

North Carolina, like most states, generally operates under a three-tier model in which beer and wine is marketed and sold through independent, state-based distributors that live and work in the communities they serve. By uniting beer and wine distributors from across the state, we provide the steady advocacy and operational insight needed to maintain accountability in a balanced, reliable system. The result is an enormous product selection for consumers, safe and dependable distribution channels for retailers, and efficient tax collection for the State.
